About me

Hello, I'm Banshika Bhimsaria (she/her/hers), a recent graduate from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, with a BA degree in Combined Majors in Economics and Political Science. 

 

My roots lie in a small town, Diphu, in Assam, a north-eastern state of India, which I proudly call home. While I call Diphu my home, I spent a decade of my life attending one of the finest boarding schools in the country, The Assam Valley School in Tezpur, Assam. My formative years here instilled in me the values of diversity, curiosity, and the pursuit of excellence and were instrumental in shaping me into who I am today. Blessed with the opportunity to learn amidst a diverse community of students and educators from varied backgrounds, I gleaned invaluable lessons beyond the confines of textbooks. It was here that I discovered my passions and nurtured a deep curiosity to explore the rich tapestry of global cultures.

 

I consider myself fortunate that my father's extensive travels allowed me to explore life beyond my immediate surroundings, exposing me to different states and countries. Observing the disparities across different regions only fueled my curiosity to decipher their underlying causes. I realized that despite its title as the "tea garden of the world," Assam often finds itself neglected, despite its vast potential contributions to the country. These observations from my upbringing and my desire to make a difference in these disparities, instilled in me a profound fascination with Economics and Political Science from an early age. Hence, I resolved to pursue my specialization in these fields at UBC.

 

Throughout my academic journey, I became increasingly intrigued by the economic and political disparities among regions. I sought to understand the origins of these variations and their global ramifications. To unravel these complexities, I engaged with a diverse array of subjects and experiences, expanding my horizon beyond the realms of Economics and Political Science. I ventured into writing, data analytics, marketing, and content creation, among others, in pursuit of a holistic understanding of these complex issues. 

 

My thirst for knowledge is insatiable, driving me to continuously explore and learn well outside the boundaries of my formal education. My experience at UBC encompassed a broad spectrum of extracurricular engagements, leadership roles, and professional opportunities. Each day brought a new lesson, whether through volunteer work, internships, co-op roles, or temporary assignments. I navigated a diverse array of roles, from student leadership and content creation to corporate relations and marketing. This journey was instrumental in refining my preferences and aspirations, allowing me to discern not only my passions but also the paths less aligned with my envisioned future. It was amidst this rich tapestry of academic and professional explorations that I discovered a profound affinity for digital marketing and data analytics, areas where my true interests and passions converge.

As I stand at the crossroads of academia and the professional world, and venture further into digital marketing, I carry with me the lessons learned and the insights gained from my background in economics and political science. I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead and am committed to making a meaningful impact wherever I go.
